Indigenous Storytelling in Film as a new form of Subtle Activism

Presentation Description: This film panel will explore different ways in which indigenous communities and artists are working to together to represent indigenous cosmologies and storytelling through the medium of film. The panel will explore how film as a form of subtle activism advocates the rights, preservation and regeneration of indigenous lifeways on ancestral lands.

Panel Presenters: Bay Area artists and filmmakers include, Matthew Crotty from KCET presenting Tending the Wild. Toby McLoed presenting the Sacred Lands Film Project. Melinda Micco and Chihiro Wimbush presenting Every Step A Prayer. 

Panel Moderator: Chantal Noa Forbes from the Deep Water Initiative
